Ministry of Communion to the Sick
As the parish communities of Camberwell, Balwyn Deepdene and Surrey Hills Wattle Park gather each week for the celebration of the Eucharist, there are those who are home bound or in hospital or aged care who are unable to be present with us at Mass. Communion is taken each week to the sick and elderly in our parishes.
If you or someone you know would like to receive Communion at home or you are interested in joining the Ministry of Communion to the Sick, please contact Tricia Norman at the Parish Office on 9816 9291 or Tricia.Norman@cam.org.au We are always in need of further assistance in taking Communion to the sick and elderly in our parishes. This is a very rewarding ministry.
Music in our Parishes
Sacred music plays a crucial role in the liturgical life of our parishes. It enhances our liturgies and assists in leading participants more deeply into the mystery of our faith. All weekend Masses, weddings, funerals and other liturgical events across our parishes have live music. This is achieved through the ongoing commitment of many music ministers and the coordination of liturgical music for both parishes and the music repertoire for significant liturgical events.
Liturgical Ministries in our Parishes
Parishioners are encouraged to participate in the liturgy by means of the responses, acclamations, songs, the postures of prayer and, at the proper times, by an attentive silence. There are some who undertake particular liturgical roles to assist the priest throughout the celebration of the Mass.
Roles include:
• Sacristans
• Altar Servers
• Readers/lectors
• Extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion
• Ministers of Communion to the Sick
Parishioners seeking to be involved in any of these liturgical ministries are encouraged to contact Tricia Norman at the Parish Office on 9816 9291 or at Tricia.Norman@cam.org.au.
Liturgy Group
The combined Parishes Liturgy Group for Camberwell, Balwyn Deepdene and Surrey Hills Wattle Park is each responsible for setting the overall vision of liturgy within their respective parishes, with particular emphasis on the liturgical year calendar and the coordination and preparation of liturgies for Lent, the Easter Triduum, Advent and Christmas. The group is keen to nurture the diversity of membership of our faith community and invite parishioners to be drawn more deeply into the liturgical life of the parish through opportunities to participate in various liturgical ministries.
